What many motorists are not aware of: if the tyre pressure is only 7 PSI (0.5 bar) less than the value as recommended by the manufacturer, then petrol or gas consumption can increase by up to as much as 6 %! Driving with low tyre pressure also increases tyre wear, but more importantly still low tyre pressure can greatly affect the safety of the driver and the passengers, because low tyre pressure can quickly lead to longer breaking distances and bad handling in bends.
